How to create a hub?

Although this information may appear of preliminary nature to experienced hubbers but new hubbers will be greatly benefitted as lot of their time will be saved that otherwise might have been spent in researching and practicing how to make and format their hubs to make them impressive. Sometimes very experienced hubbers also struck with minor

1. Title of the hub: It must be catchy and preferably long having lot of key words.

When you start writing a hub, first thing is to give a title to your hub or hubpage. OK here try to have a long title so that it includes several important keywords in title itself. It will help to improve visibility of your hub on the internet. You have to change it infrequently to match with the content of the hub.

Note: An important single key word may attract more traffic than several weak keywords. Hence, a short title may have more face value than a long title depending on the key words used.

2. URL of the hub: No spaces are allowed. However, dashes can be used. Don't leave a "dash" in the end. Also avoid a question mark in the end. Search engines don't understand the question mark.

Ideally URL should contain 69 characters. Hence place key words within 69 characters.

It inputs your title as the URL by default. However, its better to do it manually to avoid spaces, dashes etc.

3. Tags: Next item is to assign tags to your hub. So you can insert tags related to words used in your writeup and these tags should be phrases that you will feed in a search box assuming if you are searching net what keyword or phrase you will put in search book to find out this particular hub. A simple idea to assign tag is to use "Google Suggest". When you put a word or phrase in the search box, holding down arrow key will show you number of searches made on the net by variants of that keyword or phrase. Needless to say, Just use the most searched key word or phrase as tag.

4. Edit Text capsule: You can directly type your matter here or you can paste your matter if you have already prepared your draft using any word processor. You can also apply bullets or numbers. You can format your text using different tabs like bold, italic and underline etc. Background is available when you click right arrow in the menu bar of "Text capsule". .You can not apply it while editing your text or when Edit menu is active. After saving the capsule you can align text capsule to the right and when right arrow key is visble you can apply available background.

5. Applying other capsules: You can add as many capsules as you wish.It is easy to apply.

6. Reordering of the capsules: You can reorder your capsules either by draging different capsules name in the right side or you can drag actual capsules in the left side by aligning them.

Here it is to understand that you can add text capsule several times to insert photographs between text modules. If you select text capsule only once you would not be able to insert photographs in between the text. This is the most important thing to know for layout of your hub.

7. Add Video: You can add video related to your content. To add video, you must have an account either on YOUTUBE or GOOGLE VIDEO. For instance if you are adding YOUTUBE video, sign in your A/C and click on video you want to add to your capsule. Right click your mouse on favourite and then on properties. It will display URL of the video. Copy URL and paste in URL box while editing video capsule. After doing this click on preview button and it will automatically inser VIDEO Key. Save it.

8. Add Photo: At the time of editing your hub you may add photo capsules to your hub. After capsule is added, click on the "Edit" tab. There are several options are available for adding and displaying your photographs. You can either have a single photograph or multiple in a single photo capsule.If you wish to add a single photo, just click on "Add new photo" and then choose a photo from your computer and upload it. Select any format from "Full", Half or Quarter and give a caption to your photo and then click update before saving your capsule. You can upload multiple photo simultaneously. To achieve this, first add your all photographs to batch file and then click upload. You have to update individual photographs to select the format of display. Now click the "Display settings" and select desired mode of display. For display of several hotographs, the best display mode in my opinion is thumbnail view by allowing viewer to look at full photo after clicking on thumbnail.

9. Add News capsule: Sometimes it may show "No news feed available". However, you may try to input different keywords as it takes entire title as key word by default. Adding news capsule will improve the content, design and score of your hub.

10. Add link capsule: It is simple to apply this capsule like others. Provide links to your other related hubs. Don't make a mistake by linking better hubs by other hubbers. It will have negative impact on your hubs.
