Kaal (Kal) Sarp Yog or Dosh: Types, effects, puja and other remedies

If someone is experiencing only failures in one’s all out efforts and dejection from the entire quarters one is usually concerned with, it could be due to some defects (doshas) like Kaal Sarp Dosh or Mangalik Dosh in one’s birth chart (horoscope). Kaal Sarp dosh/Yog is believed to have the capacity to negate the good effects of favorable planets or good yogas in the chart and make the life of affected person miserable despite having all comforts and facilities. It happens when all the planets are situated between the houses of Rahu and Ketu. When half of the chart is unoccupied by any planet this condition is termed as complete Kaal Sarp Yoga. Position of Rahu, Ketu and other planets, in the horoscope, results in different types of yoga for different people. Although Kaal Sarp Yoga is considered more harmful than other yoga, its power to confer gains in some cases can not be denied.

Different types of Kalsarpa Yog

1) Ananta Kalasarpa Yog

Rahu & Ketu’s position in horoscope: House 1 & 7  

Impact: anxiety, short temperedness, negative approach, disgrace, dissatisfaction in marital relations, untidy, lack of support from colleagues & partners

2) Kulik Kalasarpa Yogl

Rahu & Ketu’s position in horoscope: House 2  & 8

Ill effects of different types of Kaal Sarp Yog make life miserable, full of struggle and cause setbacks. Person suffering from Kaal Sarp dosh faces obstacles in each step when he or she attempts to accomplish something. There are several remedies like performing a puja or vidhi on a day suitable for puja, keeping an energized Kaal Sarp Yantra in the house

Kaal Sarp Shanti Pooja is performed at places like Trimbaeshwar, Nasik, Maharashtra Maha Kaaleshwar, Ujjain, Lodheshwar, Uttar Pradesh, by expert Pandits (Brahmins). However, special Puja at Trimbkkeshwar is more popular than other places and performed in a systematic manner. It takes about 6 hours for completion of the full procedure. It costs about Rs 1750/- and includes boarding and meals for three persons. Charges may vary from the Brahmin to Brahmin. We were fortunate enough to contact the right person. Our pooja was performed very systematically and we were satisfied with the arrangements. Interested people may download the details for accomplishing the pooja at Nasik. One has to reach Trimbakeshwar a day before the pooja day. Good hotels are available at Nasik and one can reach Trimbkeshwar within 30 minutes from Nasik. Hotels are also available at Trimbkeshwar but not with modern facilities. Some photographs of actual pooja are placed in this hub to give an idea about the process.

For Kaal Sarp Shanti puja at Trimbakeshwar, Nasik, one has to take care for the following:

1. Contact the Pandit Ji to fix the date for the Pooja before leaving,

2. One has to wear new dress for performing the pooja and later on drop these clothes at the place of puja and wear other set of clothes (old or used)

3. One has to visit Trimbakeshwar temple either prior to Pooja or after performing the puja

4. It's better to reach Trimbakeshwar a day before puja

5. Person performing puja has to follow instructions given by the Pandit Ji and has to follow some restriction for a month or so.

We paid a visit to Trimbakeshwar temple in August 2010 and performed puja for Kaal Sarp Shanti. Our stay was very comfortable at Nasik. We stayed in hotel Paradise, near Shalimar Chawk. Stay in a double bed room (AC) just cost us Rs 900 per day. Check out in Nasik hotels is 12.00 noon.From Nasikk, we hired a Tavera and reached Trimbakeshwar in morning and after Darshan of jyotirling and Kaal sarp Pooja left to Shirdi in the evening. It did cost us Rs 2000/-.
