Jaipur: Photos of important tourist places of the pink city of India
72Jaipur, popularly known as the Pink City and also the picturesque capital of Rajasthan, forms the Golden Triangle of tourist circuit (Agra-Delhi-Jaipur) of India. The Pink City may be entered into through any of the seven gates. City is known to be named after its founder king Maharaja Jai Singh. Jaipur is well known for forts, palaces, jewellery, fabric, shoes, Saris and woollen rajais. City is surrounded by mountains, forts, palaces and gardens. It is well connected by road, rail and air.
History of Jaipur city dates back to 1727 A.D. when Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, built it. It is known to be the only planned city of its time. Climate of the city is very pleasant as city is located in the semi-arid climatic zone. Maximum temperature varies between 29.1 and 33.3 0C. A brief description of some places of tourist interests is given below along with photographs snapped recently.
There are good hotels available in the city that includes starred hotels and also low budget hotels. Air-conditioned hotels are available in the range of Rs 1500 - 3000 for average budget people who do not wish to spend more on accommodation when accompanied by the family members.Even charges for extra people are less compared to other cities. City tours are arranged by Govt. department and it costs approx. Rs 350 per passenger. Double Decker buses are used for travelers who wish to see tourist spots in and around the city. We hired a non-A/C taxi for Rs 1000/- for a day.
Birla Temple: Birla temple is situated just below the Moti Doongri Fort.Another name of Birla Mandir is Laxmi Narayan Temple as temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi. It is a major tourist attraction in the city that was built in the year 1988 by B.M. Birla foundation. Temple is constructed using white marble that glows at night.
Ganesh ji & Hanuman Temple: Adjacent to Birla temple are the temples of Sri Ganesh and Hanuman. A photograph of Sri Ganesh is provided with Birla temple photographs.
Hawa Mahal: It was built by the King Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799 to provide an opportunity for the palace women to watch the processions passing through the Bazar below without being seen by outsiders. To achieve this objective numerous small windows (152) were provided in the five storeyed building. The five storied monument provides the fine example of fine architecture having multiple small windows with over hanging latticed balconies
Jal Mahal : At present, the Jal Mahal , is closed for public viewing for the repair work. It is situated in the middle of Man Sagar Lake and connected by a paved causeway. Top floor of the Jal Mahal is visible over the surface of water and the four floors are under water.
