2. Yogasana

3. Sudarshan Kriya

5. Acupressure

6. Magnetic therapy

7. Herbal/ natural products/ aroma/Homeopathy

Side effects of antibiotics

The FDA has recently issued a warning that antibiotics can harm tendons. Certain antibiotic drugs such as Bayer AG's Cipro, Avelox, Corp's Factive, Depomed Inc's Proquin XR, Johnson and Johnson's Levaaquin and Floxin, and Merc & Co Inc's Noroxtrin have to carry the warnings about related risks. There are several such evidences of harmful effects of steroids and antibiotic drugs.

Yoga and exercie

Do you invest lot of money every month on your medical bills? There are several ways to reduce this expenditure and save yourself from such side effects of the drugs. If you understand your system well, you can keep yourself healthy and fit. Several serious diseases like breast cancer may be cured if detected early through self diagnosis. With little consideration you can manage situation. Balanced diet, exercise, yoga, morning/evening walks, better life style etc. are some of the practices that may help you cut your medical bills. Yoga was evolved by Indian Saints centuries ago. It has been revived recently by great Indian gurus. Most distinguished names to mention are of Sri Sri Ravishankar ji and Baba Ramdeo ji. Even in West people are practicing Yoga but these Yoga classes in western countries are meant for churning more money andless focused for improving health. Both the Yoga Gurus deserve appreciation as evident from results shown by the improvement in health of people and even cure of several serious ailments. Though way of teaching yoga of these two Gurus is different but both advocate use of natural products or ayurvedic medicines for treatment of diseases besides teaching Yoga. I have been a great critic of both Yoga and use of alternate medicines for long time as I believed only in allopathic treatment. But now I am changed as I experienced huge benefits of Yoga and treatment of diseases with alternate medicines. I found that "Art of Living" course offered by Art of Living organization help people to lead a healthy life and help marinating emotional balance. I would like to mention here that I found Yoga and Sudarshan Kriya - a patented breathing process, very useful but I myself developed a simple technique"Soothing and breathing" to keep myself healthy. May be other people take a clue from it and enjoy a healthy life.

"Stretch, rotate/move, bend and unfold all your joints/ muscles, body parts and relax. Breathe deeply and even breathe with long gaps between inhale and exhale". Remember Yoga is not an exercise; it's a soothing process, so sweating is not required.

Even if you practice all these things, you have to visit occasionally a medical practitioner. Then what could be the solution? Solution, indeed, is very simple. Like you I was also against things like natural therapies and alternate medicines etc. and I spent handsome amount for treatment of simple ailments in the past. Since last five years, any of my family members did not see a Doctor. Why? Did not any of my family members fell sick? No, this was not the case. Have you heard of Hennmen? He was an allopath but later on he got inclined to homeopathy and developed this branch of medicine by testing homeopathic medicines on himself. Now he is known as father of Homeopathy.

Here my purpose is not to advocate or promote any branch of medicine but to convince you that you may keep your family healthy without investing a big amount of money on medical bills and save them from side effects of antibiotics and steroids used by allopaths. You may be thinking, if not allopath, you have to visit a homeopath. No. You can do it as an amateur. I did it like this, I purchased few books available in the market and tried these medicines on myself and I was amazed with the effect of these medicines.Of course, you have to get aquainted with basic principles of homeopathic system of medication. You should know what potency to use, frequency and which medicines have antagonistic effects if used in combination. But no problem, all this information is readily available in the books as well as on internet. Homeopathic medicines are made from plant extracts or from other natural products. Biochemic medicines are made from different combinations of twelve salts which are needed by body in different quantities. Of course some of the medicines are made from chemicals but these are used in such small quantities that side effect on your health in future are unimaginable. You can treat simple ailments by referring these books. Professionals will always demoralise you by advising "no self-medication" but since, homeopathic medicines have no side effects what is harm if a person opts for self medication based on his experience. I read comments of a well known Indian Homeopath against self medication. His argument was that a medicine like "Pulsatilla" can make a person more sensitive. This means there is no such evidence against self-medication. However, when you try something, you have to understand properties of material you are using. I am giving here names of few books which are really useful for a beginner.

  1. Homeopathy: The Complete Hand Book by Dhama K.P.S. and Suman
  2. Biochemic Pocket Guide: Schussler,W.
  3. Homeopathic Cure for Common Diseases: Singh, Yudhvir
  4. Homeopathic Self-Care: Robert Ullman et al.

You can not become a medical practitioner overnight. Experience will tell you which medicine and which potency to use. Purpose of posting this article is to save people from ill-effects of drugs and reduce reliance on synthetic drugs. You may be afraid of practicing homeopathy but I will advise you to just test it for simple ailments in the beginning and progress further when you become experienced. You will be surprised to know that kids in our family now know names of several homeopathic medicines and even they choose medicines on their own without consulting me. Gradually you will develop confidence and not only save your family with side effects of synthetic drugs but reduce lots of investment on your medical bills. You have to pay $ 50-100 fee to doctor per visit but you can purchase homeopathic medicines for a year for all your family for a year with same amount. I'll not suggest you to take risk in beginning on serious ailments, for that rely on a qualified practitioner. Just to develop confidence and acquaint yourself with medicines, you can visit a qualified homeopathic practitioner for sometime and seek treatment under his guidance and afterwards test medicines prescribed in the book himself. In countries like India, people's faith has dramatically developed in Homeopathy. Reasons are simple: Cheap and effective medicines, no side effects, single medicine is used for several diseases. Remember, I am not a homeopath, I am an amateur. I like this branch of medicine very much as I am saving lot of money treating my family members. Believe it, though I am a amateur, I have treated several serious cases and I consider it as a miracle or God's blessing. I have served some poor people with my acquired knowledge of this science.

Two things. Proper diet and exercise. Every morning I do a 15 minute extensive chore (like house cleaning) and before lunch I do push ups and sit ups coupled with stretching exercises. Here is the article where I learned how to do that. It's called the 11-minute workout (perfect for office workers)

Hope that helps :)

Great article, with really good info. Although, I am a huge proponent of being naturally healthy, I don't believe that we can extend our life. I do believe we can improve the quality of it for how ever long we are meant to be hear. Natural remedies are definitely more compatible with our bodies and natural healing...

Thanks natural healing. Improvement in quality life naturally prolongs one's life. Increase in average age is due to better living conditions and better medical facilities than before.

To add to your "Different Uses of Water" I'd like to encourage people who already use Magnetic Therapy to use their magnets to magnetize their drinking water. It's god for many stomach type problems.

Dont harm others. Be helping others. Be sincere. whatever you save more than your requirement for present and future, it is waste. That extra wealth you distribute to the needy. It helps you to be happy. You will have always have good mood, good health and good life. Other things help only when our happy and have good mood. Our body health depends on our mental health.

Our mind tells which is good and which is bad. But we dont listen to our mind properly. We always take bad things and not good things. Unless one gets happiness, there is no benefit by any asanas. Of course, it is personal belief and not to discourage others. I always quote an example to my friends. Two people were riding bicycles. One was crying because he was rich and became poor. Other was shouting with joy because he was a poor and got a new bicycle. Both are riding cycle only but one is happy and another one is sad. Every thing depends on our mind. If our mind is able to treat both good and bad times equally and is able to enjoy both then there will always happiness. That is enough for our health to be good.
